Last call for Ephesians Event registrations!
The Ephesians Event is 10 days away!  Are you going to be there?  Are you going to bring your church leaders with you?

Now is the time to decide and get those registrations in.  Pre-registration gets you lunch on the site, childcare if needed, and a place in the workshop of your choice.

Walk-ins are welcome.  They will have to go out to a nearby location for lunch and they can go to the workshop of their choice on a first come, first served basis after pre-registered folks are there.

You r-e-a-l-l-y do not want to miss this event!  Click here for a brochure and get it to us.

“Spruce Up Camp Pee Dee Day” a success
Approximately 60 persons from churches throughout the Presbytery of New Harmony descended on Camp Pee Dee Saturday morning.  They received coffee, juice, & pastries before heading to their assigned tasks.  [At left you see part of the group listening to Jason Steen, facilities director give instruction.]

Some painted a cabin, others reroofed a shelter, while others cleaned and touched up areas.  Bushes were cut or removed, screens taken down, pastures cleaned, and good times were had by all who participated.

At the end of the day all could say that much had been accomplished.  Many thanks to those who participated and who have helped with the upkeep of Camp Pee Dee throughout the year.

Blessed Hills Prayer Center featured in The Item
The Korean American Presbyterian Church’s Blessed Hills Prayer Center was featured in the January 2, 2008 edition of The Item, Sumter’s newspaper.  The article features the Rev. Taesu Cheong’s vision for a prayer center and cottages for Korean widows on the 17 acres of land purchased by the church last year.

Three natural springs were found on the property and will be incorporated into the plans.  Initial estimates placed the cost at $500 thousand.  The cost will probably be more.   Donations are readily accepted.  The church pays for each phase as it goes.

Reflections on the Lord's Prayer: A Lenten Study is available. Well-known author, Ellsworth Kalas, has written a very fine Lenten study based on the Lord's Prayer for The Thoughtful Christian. This Lenten Study is available for downloading, but you may preorder it at any time. It is a six-session study, and the Leader's Guides are authored by Carol Wehrheim. The cost is $26. It is free for subscribers.  Click on The Thoughtful Christian for more information.

Online devotional for Youth (and pretty cool for the rest of us too)
Invite your youth into the world of d365, a devotional website designed for youth.  Pause, listen, think, pray, and go are series of pages that the visitor can move through at his or her own pace.  Daily scripture is based on the Revised Common Lectionary.  Read more about d365 in the Spring 2008 issue of Ideas! magazine or go to
www.d365.org.

Leader of Leaders Event focuses on youth ministry other than Sunday night
Gina Yeager-Buckley, associate for ministries with youth for the PC (USA), is the leader of the March 3-4 event to be held in Hartsville.  The event, “God’s Space:  Youth Ministry Beyond Sunday Nights,” will allow participants to explore a young person’s life OUTSIDE of church-all the while seeking how to be the church in that outside life!

Leader of Leaders events are sponsored by the five presbyteries of South Carolina.  Registrations are by presbyteries.  Click here to get the brochure and register with Julie Cox.  Space is limited.

Educator available on Sundays
Avery Dickson, presbytery educator and resource coordinator for the Presbytery of New Harmony, is now available to visit your church on Sundays, when scheduled in advance.

The Session of First Presbyterian Church, Cheraw, has approved Avery’s availability to presbytery on up to twelve Sundays during the year.  These must be scheduled on days that his responsibilities there are not compromised.

If you and interested in having him come and observe, meet with a group, or cover an event for “This Week in New Harmony,” contact him at avery@newharmonypres.org.
